My name is Mark and I am 49 years old and have been addicted to drugs and alcohol since I was 14. Needless to say my addiction has given me a life of misery and pain. I am a survivor. I should have been dead a long time ago. In fact I have died a few times but was saved by the wonders of medicine and gods grace. My addiction has led me to prison numerous times always to return to active addiction. I finally hit my bottom when I had a car accident while driving under the influence of methadone and xanax and had my children in the car. Thank god no one was hurt. This led me to prison once again plus the loss of my children and wife and job and I could go on and on but you get the point. I finally had enough and when I got out of prison decided to get help. I looked around for a rehab but I did not have insurance and they all wanted insurance except for Damon House. I did some research and was a little skeptical because they are a therapeutic community. But I sincerely wanted help so I made the call. I found out that I did not need insurance to be admitted there so I was on my way. Damon House welcomed me with open arms. They provided me with a safe environment, clothes and food and all the tools I needed to get my life on track. I will always be grateful and indebted to them for saving my life. I have been clean and sober now for 4 years. That is truly a miracle. I could not get a day clean in my whole life before Damon House.
My name is Rob and I am a graduate of the Damon house program. The time I spent in Damon House was invaluable because I am succeeding in life after treatment. I still hold the same job I found while I was in Damon House, (2 promotions later) and I am enrolled in college full time. I have been clean for several years as a product of what Damon House can offer anyone if they are willing to apply themselves to the program. Damon House gave me a chance when no one else in New Jersey was willing to accept me as a client and I grateful for the individual staff members that were assigned to me. I was able to meet with doctors, dentists, psychologists, family therapists, drug and alcohol counselors; whom gave everything I needed to become a healthy person again, mind body and spirit. My experience at Damon House is what keeps me clean today. I learned recovery form drug addiction is not impossible if I am willing to use the tools that Damon House gave me to succeed in life. Damon House taught me not only how to deal with my feelings like an adult they taught me how to solve problems like one too. My experience is not typical, but not unexpected either. I stayed long enough to get a job and start saving money again. More importantly I made an impression on my family and they started to trust me again because of the life skills I learned through my time at Damon House. I eventually completed every level of treatment that Damon House had to offer and I am proud to call myself a graduate of the program.
